Keeping the Champion’s Spirit Alive ANTA Sports Signs Contracts with Active Chinese Table Tennis Champions Zhang Jike and Liu Shiwen
Move Spurs Brand’s Development and Contributes to China’s Sports Scene
(Hong Kong, 7 November 2013) ANTA Sports Products Limited (“ANTA Sports” or the “Company”, stock code: 2020), a leading branded sportswear enterprise in China, is pleased to announce that the Company has signed endorsement contracts with Olympic champion Zhang Jike and world champion Liu Shiwen this afternoon. Both athletes will formally join Anta’s champion team which follows the “Represent China, Represent Sports” theme. Zhang Jike and Liu Shiwen are active Chinese table tennis players who have won numerous world championships at their tender age, and whose prospects are vast. Their move to join the team will not only further strengthen ANTA’s endorsement lineup, but also serve to elevate ANTA’s brand equity.
Zhang Jike and Liu Shiwen are considered as an outstanding duo of China’s new-generation table tennis players. Zhang Jike was selected for the China national team in 2003, with his style combining forcefulness and flexibility which enables his outstanding performance on both offensive and defensive sides. He has been an up-and-coming star in the national team since 2008, and has had a strong presence in international matches. Zhang Jike was the champion in both men’s singles and men’s team at the 2012 London Olympics, and completed a “Grand Slam” by winning champion titles of the World Table Tennis Championships, the Table Tennis World Cup as well as the Olympic Games, making him the third male table tennis player to achieve this in China’s history after Liu Guoliang and Kong Linghui, reaching the peak of his career. Zhang Jike already has 10 world champion titles at the age of 25, but his ambition to win remains strong and he is striving for his second “Grand Slam”, while also partnering with ANTA to promote the “Keep Moving” spirit.
In addition, the “Junior Deng Yaping” Liu Shiwen was drafted into the China national team in 2004, and amazed the world with a single brilliant feat at the 2009 Women's Table Tennis World Cup. She won the championship when she was just 18, making her the youngest World Cup winner. Liu Shiwen, currently aged 22, is the Queen of world’s table tennis arena with seven world champion titles under her. Meanwhile, she never ceases to pursue her aspirations, and will kick off a new championship journey toward the goals of winning the World Table Tennis Championships and Olympic gold medals after signing on with ANTA Sports.
Mr. Zhang Tao, Vice President of ANTA Sports said, “Zhang Jike and Liu Shiwen embody the national sports spirit of the new generation and have won numerous world championships at an early age. However, they are always disciplined and committed to pursuing different awards without letting up. Their indomitable spirit fits the ‘Keep Moving’ spirit of the ANTA brand. As a strategic partner of the Chinese Olympic Committee, we will work together with the Chinese Sports Delegation at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, as well as to pursue the dream of championship together with Zhang Jike and Liu Shiwen. In addition, we will fully support the development of sports industry in China at all levels. ANTA Sports hopes to spur its brand development while helping more people to achieve their dream of sports beyond themselves.”
