ANTA Sports Joins Hands with Chen Penbin, Renowned Ultra-marathon Runner, in His Challenge to Finish 100 Marathons
(Hong Kong, 2 April 2015) ANTA Sports Products Limited (“ANTA Sports” or the “Company”, stock code: 2020), a leading branded sportswear enterprise in China, is pleased to announce that renowned Chinese ultra-marathon runner Chen Penbin will take on the challenge of finishing 100 marthons in 100 consecutive days. ANTA Sports tailor made supreme running shoes – the ANTA “Challenge 100” – to help him throughout his journey. This event not only is an unprecedented feat for Chen Penbin, but is also a means to promote the “Keep moving” athletic spirit and green and healthy lifestyles, as well as an opportunity to unite China in its bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Chen Penbin is a renowned Chinese ultra-marathon runner who specialises in running competitions involving complex terrain at distances of 100km or above. In 2014, he won the Antarctic Ice Marathon 100km Race, which made him the first Chinese runner to win an international ultra-marathon race. He was also the first to finish the 7 Continents Marathon. This time, Chen Penbin will start in Guangzhou, and will run along the southeast coast, across Guangdong Province and Fujian Province, towards his hometown in Zhejiang Province, then head north to Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Hebei Province and Tianjin before arriving in Beijing on 10 July. The total distance of this extraordinary adventure is 4,219.54km.
ANTA Sports, as the sportswear partner of this event and of Chen Penbin, made numerous adjustments to the product to fit his feet and running style to tailor make running shoes which can take on constant pressure, adapt to changes in terrain, and fulfil the athlete’s requirements for running ultra-marathons. These efforts resulted in an exceptional running shoe. The upper part of “Challenge 100” running shoe is made of engineered mesh, making the shoe light, fitted, and able to effectively accelerate the release of heat build up in the shoe; the mid-cut design of the shoe provides wraps around the foot perfectly; the shoe sole is made of extra-thick durable rubber; TPU outsole and AUTO-arch technology are applied to the midfoot and arch of the shoe to ensure stability as the foot lands. The heel of the shoe applies ANTA’s A-CORE shock-absorbing technology and multi-layer structure to minimise possible impacts on and injuries to Chen Penbin’s body as he runs while maximising protection for the runner’s ankles, knees and other body parts. In addition, ANTA Sports will conduct real-time tracking of the status of “Challenge 100” running shoes as he runs, and adjust his “Challenge 100” running shoes in accordance to the feedback from him.
