NBA Champion Player Klay Thompson Completes His First China Tour with ANTA Professional Shoes Dedicated to Title Defense
(Hong Kong, 31 August 2015) ANTA Sports Products Limited (“ANTA Sports” or the “Company”, stock code: 2020), a leading branded sportswear enterprise in China, is pleased to announce that Klay Thompson, ANTA basketball endorser, NBA All-Star player and shooting guard of NBA championship-winning Golden State Warriors, completed his “2015 Thompson China Tour” (“China Tour”). Klay Thompson hit Beijing, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Xiamen, working with ANTA Sports to promote basketball development in China by interacting with youngsters who love basketball and understanding the strong basketball culture in China.
During his China Tour, Klay Thompson shared his shooting skills and participated in a free throw competition with basketball fans selected by the Tencent NBA Community in Beijing. He then went to Wuhan to take part in NBA Nation events, coaching teenage players in NBA FIT, one of the NBA Nation programs, in which he trained the players by personally demonstrating his skills, and even joined a group competition. He pushed the program to a climax when he showcased his dribbling and slam dunk skills. Finally, Klay Thompson gave each player a high five and took photographs with them, enjoying his time a mentor and rejoicing in the knowledge that so many young people in China love basketball.
In addition, ANTA Sports organised fan engagement sessions at COCO Park in the Longgang District of Shenzhen and at Grandbuy Outdoor Plaza at Beijing Road, Guangzhou. In Shenzhen, Klay Thompson and his fans did push-ups with basketballs placed on top of their necks, with those doing the most push-ups without dropping the ball being declared winners. He also gave away autographed basketballs and took photographs with each basketball fan who participated in the activity. Klay Thompson also demonstrated his dribbling skills and coached fan in one-on-one sessions, teaching them cross-leg dribbling and behind-the-back dribbling.
In Guangzhou, Klay Thompson played with a group of fans, throwing miniature basketballs into holes of different sizes from two metres away, and teaching dribbling skills to another group of fans. All participating fans were given basketballs with Klay Thompson’s autograph as a souvenir. The program reached its zenith when Klay Thompson signed an autograph on the basketball he was holding and hit a super long-range three-pointer to a basket 20 metres away from the stage. The fans were thrilled, cheering Klay Thompson on in amazement with this incredible shot.
In his last stop in Xiamen, Klay Thompson visited the operational centre of ANTA Sports, where he was received by Mr. Ding Shizhong, the Chairman and CEO of ANTA Sports, and met the entire ANTA staff. He also visited China’s first sports science laboratory at ANTA headquarters, and went through foot type and footstep pressure tests under the guidance of technicians, who will collect the data to construct a 3D model of Klay Thompson’s feet and the designers of the Company will make basketball shoes that provide a custom fit with a more accurate understanding of his foot structure. Towards the end of his China Tour, Klay Thompson became a special guest of the ANTA ABA League, a basketball league the Company organised for ANTA staff, and he delivered a speech and hosted the opening tip-off of a game. He once again showcased his shooting skills to the fans during time-outs.
