ANTA Sports to Produce Environmentally-friendly Footwear and Apparel with Latest Technologies from Two Leading Performance Materials Companies
Enhancing ANTA’s reputation for innovation and as an industry leader in sustainability
Hong Kong, March 24, 2017 – ANTA Sports Products Limited (“ANTA Sports” or the “Company”, stock code: 2020.HK), a leading sportswear company in China, is pleased to announce that ANTA (China) Co., Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ANTA Sports, has entered into a “Trademark/Copyright License Agreement” with The Chemours Company (“Chemours”) in relation to Teflon EcoElite™ renewably-sourced water repellent. With this agreement, ANTA Sports will become the only local sportswear company in China that has received Chemours’ license to use Teflon EcoElite™ brand for the promotion of ANTA branded sportswear products. In the 2017 Spring/Summer season, the ANTA brand will launch its first product line, “The Rain-Breaker”, using Teflon EcoElite™ water repellent.
In line with the trend of sustainability in the fashion industry, the apparel technology center of ANTA Sports and its subsidiaries (the “Group”) have conducted research and application development for non-fluorinated water repellency technologies in collaboration with Chemours. ANTA Sports unveiled its leading apparel line - “The Rain-Breaker” in 2017 Q1. The ANTA brand and Chemours have launched a series of roadshow events in Shenzhen, Nanning, Chongqing and Zhengzhou so consumers can sample the Teflon EcoElite™ water repellent clothes for themselves. The collaboration has also boosted ANTA’s reputation for its innovative technologies, strong R&D capabilities and its brand recognition.
In addition, ANTA Sports has formed a strategic alliance with Noble Biomaterials, Inc. (“Noble”), which will provide the Group with XT2® Technology, a best-in-class odor elimination solution which utilizes the properties of silver to stop odors developing by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi that consume sweat. In doing so, XT2® keeps products smelling fresher for longer. Through the launch of Anti-Odor platform powered by XT2® Technology, this odor-eliminating solution will be employed for ANTA brand’s fitness, training and leisure products, as well as other brands’ products under the Group.
Noble has tested garments made with XT2® Technology under rigorous, real-world conditions and has observed virtually no degradation in performance. XT2® incorporates a form of pure silver woven into the fabric that is not a finish or treatment, so the silver does not wash out or wear off and lasts the same lifetime as the product. Noble’s commitment to pursuing sustainable paths for its technologies, facilities, and operations is firmly grounded in its core values. Noble works to address additional sustainability issues including the recovery and recycling of silver – both internally and working with several external partners – addressing sourcing, production, and product end-of-life. In addition to its commitment to the bluesign® system, Noble’s XT2® products are OekoTex® certified.
